Ukrainian Trailer Released for Historical Drama 'Gorky Sanatorium: The Duel'

The Ukrainian trailer has been released for Gorky Sanatorium: The Duel, a historical drama about resistance to totalitarianism based on real events surrounding the Katyn massacre. The Polish-Ukrainian-Irish co-production is set in 1939, after the Soviet invasion of Poland, when Polish intellectuals captured in territory now part of Ukraine were imprisoned in a former sanatorium converted into a POW camp.

The story centers on a prolonged psychological duel between Polish pianist Karol Grabowski and an NKVD officer attempting to break his will. Grabowski is played by Polish actor Jakub Gierszał, while Aidan Gillen, known for his role as Petyr Baelish in Game of Thrones, portrays his adversary.

Directed by Łukasz Palkowski, whose credits include the acclaimed Polish hit Gods, the film also features Ukrainian actors Viktor Zhdanov, Hryhorii Horobchuk, Daria Polunina and Artem Manuilov.
