
Ukrainian-American Director Andrij Parekh Directs House of the Dragon Season 3 Finale
Ukrainian-American filmmaker Andrij Parekh directed the season-three finale of HBO’s House of the Dragon, which premiered on August 9, 2026. The eighth episode, written by series co-creator Ryan J. Condal and Ti Mikkel, concludes the latest chapter of the Game of Thrones prequel with a major battle and escalating conflict between the rival factions of House Targaryen.
Born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, in 1971 to a family of Ukrainian and Indian descent, Parekh has established himself as both a cinematographer and television director. He studied sociology and anthropology at Carleton College before earning an MFA in cinematography from New York University and studying at Prague’s FAMU film school.
Parekh is best known for his work on acclaimed television including Succession, for which he won an Emmy for directing the episode “Hunting.” He previously directed an episode of House of the Dragon’s second season.
