The first trailer has been released for Dovzhenko. First Sight, a Ukrainian biographical drama directed by Kostiantyn Konovalov, ahead of its national theatrical release on October 1, 2026.

Set in Odesa in 1926, the film follows a young Oleksandr Dovzhenko as he arrives in the city determined to make his first film. Dreaming of a cinema that could exist as an art form rather than an instrument of propaganda, Dovzhenko soon encounters a political system unwilling to tolerate artistic independence.

The trailer depicts his ambitions of creating a “Hollywood on the Black Sea” gradually turning into a struggle for creative freedom, with the filmmaker realizing that pursuing his own artistic vision could put his life at risk.

The cast includes Hryhorii Baklanov, Maksym Samchyk, Polina Vasylina, Bohdan Benyuk and Roman Yasinovskyi.
