The Red Ruta Train Set for Ukrainian and International Premiere
Ukrainian romantic comedy The Red Ruta Train (Ukrainian: Потяг Червона Рута) will premiere in cinemas on August 20, 2026, marking the 35th anniversary of Ukraine’s independence. The film is the third instalment in the railway-themed cinematic universe launched by The Train on December 31 and The Train to Christmas, which together earned more than $2 million at the Ukrainian box office.
Directed by Oleksii Yesakov and produced by Prototype Production and FILM.UA Group, the 90-minute family comedy is set aboard a Ukrzaliznytsia train known as the “Red Ruta,” inspired by the iconic Ukrainian song by Volodymyr Ivasiuk.
The cast includes Stanislav Boklan, Oleksandr Rudynskyi, Kateryna Kuznetsova, Lilia Rebrik, Yurii Horbunov, Roman Lutskyi and Viacheslav Dovzhenko. Cameo appearances include Ukrainian music stars Iryna Bilyk, Oleksandr Ponomariov and the band TNMK’s Fagot.
