Klondike Wins Directing Award at Sundance Film Festival

Ukrainian filmmaker Maryna Er Gorbach achieved international recognition on January 21, 2022, when her dramatic feature Klondike won the Directing Award in the World Cinema Dramatic Competition at the Sundance Film Festival. The film depicts an expectant family living in the village of Grabove in eastern Ukraine during the 2014 outbreak of the Donbas war and the downing of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH17, examining the psychological devastation of conflict on civilian life.

Director and screenwriter Maryna Er Gorbach led the production alongside director of photography Svyatoslav Bulakovskyi. The film stars Oxana Cherkashyna, Sergiy Shadrin, and Oleg Scherbina in the principal roles.
