Dovbush Opens Nationwide in Ukrainian Cinemas in Landmark Domestic Production Release

Oles Sanin's historical action feature Dovbush opened nationwide in Ukrainian cinemas in August 2023, marking one of the largest domestic budget productions released during the wartime period. The film depicts the legendary eighteenth-century Ukrainian folk hero Oleksa Dovbush and his resistance in the Carpathian mountains, delivering a powerful allegory of Ukrainian national identity.

Director Oles Sanin co-wrote the screenplay with Vasyl Portyak and worked with director of photography Serhiy Mikhalchuk.
