Ukrainian Film Is Released In U.S.A.

You, My Joy directed by Ukrainian Sergiy Loznitsa’s  is released in America. The film has already been succesfully screened in Telluride and Toronto (Canada) and will have its New York premiere in the current 48th New York Film Festival where it screens Thursday, September 30.

You, My Joy is a story about Georgy, a driver who heads off from his hometown with a truckload of goods for the market. A wrong turn leads him onto the back roads of the region and seemingly deeper into the area’s hidden history.

“The film beautifully moves between two modes—one decidedly contemporary, the other more historical or even mythic, as if these characters are always part of a larger, obscured reality of which they themselves are scarcely aware. You, My Joy is an encouraging example of the terrific work beginning to emerge again from the nations of the former Soviet Union” – is said in The Kino International release.

The US rights to Loznitsa’s fictional feature debut You, My Joy were acquired by The Kino International.

The Kino International is the theatrical releasing arm of Kino Lorber, which specialises in foreign films, classics and documentary features.

In addition to the U.S. A. the film will be released in France, Germany, Portugal, Greece, Israel, Russia, Scandinavia and Benelux.
