Verkhovna Rada has banned the privatization of the Odessa Film Studio

The Verkhovna Rada has introduced a moratorium on the privatization of state-owned stake in the Odessa film studio until the law for the restoration of Ukrainian film art is adopted.

In December 2009 it became known of the decision of the State Property Fund to sell 50.01% stake in Odessa Film Studio LLC.

The Odessa branch of the National Union of Cinematographers spoke against this decision.

The filmmakers turned to the then president, Viktor Yushchenko, Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko and the Rada with a request to prevent the sale of state shares Odessa Film Studio.
