Catherine Deneuve And Jean-Claude Van Damme To Visit Kyiv

The 39th Molodist International Film Festival will start in Kyiv on October 24, with the festival’s opening ceremony held at the “Kyiv” Cinema. Ukraine’s main movie event of the year is going to take place in Kyiv October, 24 – November, 1.

“By a tradition, during the opening ceremony, the honorary president of the Molodist festival, Ukrainian President Viktor Yuschenko, will award with the Scythian Deer for contributions to the development of international cinematography,” the film festival’s art director, Andriy Khalpakhchi, said. This year the prize will be presented to the great French actress Catherine Deneuve.

Catherine Deneuve, Tony Gatlif, Olga Kurylenko, Chulpan Khamatova, Sergey Yurskiy, Gosha Kutsenko, Barbara Brylska, Gr?goire Colin, Sandrine Blanche, Eugene Chaplin and Jean-Claude Van Damme are invited as the honorary guests to the 39th Molodist film festival. Jean-Claude Van Damm will come to the festival to present his master class. He is said also plans to shoot a movie in Ukraine as a film director. The famous French film director Tony Gatlif would be the chairman of the main international jury.

Molodist, the Ukraine’s biggest cinema and cultural event takes place in Kiev every year in the last week of October. ‘Molodist’ means ‘youth’ in Ukrainian, and the festival presents works from the best young moviemakers, including feature films and short film debuts, as well as student movies. Besides, plenty of great works will be demonstrated as a part of a non-competitive program, including special showings, shorts collections and retrospectives of legendary actors and directors.
