Ukrainian Documentary Will Participate In Monterrey Film Festival

A Ukrainian film will be presented for the first time at the Monterrey International Film Festival. It is one of the most important cultural events in Latin America in recent years. The fifth Monterrey International Film Festival will be held from August 21st to the 29th 2009.

The festival is conformed by a varied and diverse program: The Official Selection of Short and Feature Films in Competition, showcases of Mexican, Latin American and International films, guest films and premieres, lectures, and other complementary events such as the Social Vision showcase for documentary films dealing with relevant social topics that affect the filmmakers’ communities.

Full-length documentary “Not Alone At Home” directed by Olena Fetisova dwells on a difficult choice in the life of Ukrainian woman Natalia. Having two higher university degrees she found her mission in taking care of heavily sick abandoned children of different nationalities.

Through the eyes and heart of Natalia’s 12-years-old adopted black skin son Kevin we it is possible to feel warmth, love, gladness, difficulties and special atmosphere which dominates in this unusual family. Original Ethno-Chaos “DakhaBrakha” Band’s music and pictures of the well-known Ukrainian artist Evgeniya Gapchinska increases the impression of the Kevin’s story.

This year’s competition program includes more than 60 films from almost 100 countries. The last Greenaway’s film “Rembrandt’s J’Accuse” will also participate in the documentary program of the festival.
