V International Film Festival Has Finished In Crimea

V International Film Festival took place in Sevastopol in July 19-24, 2009. This year the panorama of the new Ukrainian and Russian cinema was widely introduced in the program. The children program and the films devoted to the 200th anniversary of N. Gogol were also presented at the Festival.

The main prix “People’s Acknowledgement” was given to the film “The Wild Field” by Mikhail Kalatozishvili. Madlen Dzhabrailova and Miki Manojlovich were called “The Best Actors”.

Poland’s top film director Krzysztof Zanussi has received a special life achievement award in Crimea. The program of the event included a retrospective of the filmmaker’s output, and also retrospective.

Film by Roman Balayan “Birds of Paradise” was awarded with the prize of the Filmmakers’ Union. “Melody For The Barrel-Organ” dir. Kira Muratova got the Special Prize of the Sevastopol State Administration.
